HEIC to JPG Converter
iPhone Photos
Convert HEIC/HEIF iPhone photos to JPEG in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. Download a JPG you can open on Windows and the web.
This conversion runs only in your browser — nothing is uploaded.
Drag & drop a HEIC/HEIF photo, or browse below
What is this tool?
An in-browser HEIC → JPG converter for iPhone stills. Drop a .heic / .heif file, wait for the local decoder, then download a JPEG. Nothing is sent to a server.
It is not a general image compressor (use Compress image) and not a Base64 encoder (use Image to Base64).
Common use cases
- Send an iPhone photo to a Windows PC or Slack that rejects HEIC
- Prepare a JPEG for a CMS, printer, or government form that only accepts JPG
- Keep a shareable copy without opening Photos on a Mac
How to use
- Drag a HEIC/HEIF from Finder, Explorer, or your phone (AirDrop / cable).
- Wait for the preview. Conversion can take a few seconds on large 12 MP shots.
- Download JPG. Files never leave the device.
Examples
| Input | Notes |
|---|---|
IMG_1234.HEIC from Camera Roll | Typical iOS still; output IMG_1234.jpg. |
.heif from another camera | Same pipeline if the decoder supports that brand. |
| 15 MB+ HEIC | Rejected — export a smaller crop in Photos first. |
JPEG renamed to .heic | Fails; the bytes are not HEIF. |
Practical pitfalls
- Decoder limits: not every HEIF profile (especially 10-bit HDR) converts. That is a library limit, not an upload error.
- Color: JPEG is 8-bit sRGB-ish; wide-gamut Display P3 shots can look slightly less vivid after conversion.
- We do not strip or preserve all EXIF; treat this as a visual export, not an archival clone.

Frequently asked questions
- Why do iPhone photos show up as HEIC?
- iOS High Efficiency Image Format saves space versus JPEG. Many Windows apps, CMS fields, and email clients still expect `.jpg`. This tool re-encodes the pixels to JPEG locally.
- Is my Camera Roll uploaded?
- No. Conversion uses a WebAssembly decoder in this tab. Close the tab to drop the file from memory.
- Live Photos and bursts?
- You convert one HEIC/HEIF still at a time. Live Photo motion pairs and burst extras are not exported as video or extra frames here.
- What if conversion fails in Chrome?
- Some HEIF variants (10-bit, unusual codecs) fail in the decoder. Try another export from Photos, or Safari, which can often display HEIC natively. Max file size is 15 MB.
